Scouting For Food

On Saturday, November 8, 2008 I was up early and at my church a little after eight o’clock in the morning. As others came the guys started tossing a football in the parking lot. Around nine we decided to head out; there were about twenty people there, seven adults, a third grader, a bunch of middle school kids, and myself. I had done Scouting for Food for a number of years and knew what I was doing. I was in a car with one of the moms and her third grade daughter. We went around several neighborhoods putting the bags on the doors and met up with one of the other groups several times. It was a wet morning and a little rainy, but it was not extremely cold and I had put the bags out in worse weather. We got done with our area early and went to help one of the other groups. By eleven we were all back at the church and I was headed home. The next Saturday, November 15, 2008 another group of people from my church picked up all of the filled bags.

Our Body:The Universe Within

On Saturday, November 1, 2008 I went to the Whitaker Center to see Our Body: The Universe Within. My sister and I went to the Whitaker Center around 3pm were we met up with a group of people from HYP (Harrisburg Young Professionals). We waited in the lobby for the rest of the group and then went through the line to get our tickets. After everyone had paid we went down several flights of stairs until we got all the way to the exhibit. We gave our tickets and listened as the man at the entrance told us a little about the exhibit. Both my sister and I thought that we would be grossed out by what we saw and would want to go through as quickly as we could. In truth we did go through the exhibit rather quickly, but not because it was gross. We found that everything looked rather fake and we were not all that interested. It was a good exhibit and I am glad that I am now able to say that I have seen it, but after hearing people saying how great it was I was a little disappointed.
